The Pros on this list have been referred by your neighbours and have chosen to participate in the Quartermaster referral network.

Referrals that we collect at the door need to be verified by homeowners on their own device in order to ensure the details are correct and the homeowner is happy to share. If your referrals aren’t appearing on this list, you might still need to verify. Referrals also need to be verified on the Pro side. The Pros need to consent, confirm their contact details, and confirm their booking categories are correct and current in order to be platformed. At the time of writing, a little over 50% of referrals are verified on the Pro side.

No, Pros don’t have to pay to be on the list or to be on our platform. We think it’s important that it’s open and free for Pros to participate on the referral network, so long as they’re referred by a verified homeowner. We’ll also be looking into initiatives to help new pros get a start, but for the moment we’re focused on existing trusted relationships as the source of referral signal.

We’re passionate about building technology that gets us away from paper, but we’ve heard from people that this paper list of referrals would be helpful, especially for the homeowners who might not be a good fit for a tech platform like ours. If it helps the referred pros find some new customers here in your neighbourhood, that’ll be good for all of us. If we add enough value, hopefully we can interest people in trying out our marketplace experience.

While the paper list is great for its simplicity, it doesn’t get updated easily as existing referrals get verified and new referrals come in, so you should expect to see more referrals when you sign in. Additionally, you can see referrals from other neighbourhoods.

You don’t need to run your job on our platform in order to share a referral on Qm with your neighbours. As long as you verify that the job was done at your property, and you’d want to work with that pro again and refer them to your neighbours, by all means let the neighbourhood know. It helps homeowners and it helps Pros get discovered through good work. It doesn’t cost them anything.

Quartermaster is a web platform and app that helps you manage your home as a household team, and helps you find and book Pros through neighbour referrals. We aim to make money through our marketplace service where homeowners can post jobs and request quotes from referred Pros. We charge Pros a low commission, in comparison to most other marketplaces, for jobs with new Homeowners, and reduce commission to as low as 0% in cases where Pros have preexisting relationships with Homeowners. No Pro or Homeowner pay any monthly subscription fees. Not all signed up Pros are bookable on our marketplace. For those who are not bookable you’ll find their contact info and can reach out to them outside of Quartermaster. All marketplace Pros have passed a standardized vetting process and background check.

We believe you should do what’s easiest for you and best for the Pro. If you need a Pro and you don’t want to call around, we can save you the time and find the best referral matches and availability options for you. Booking on platform comes with a Good Neighbour Guarantee that covers you for up to $2,500 in the event something goes wrong. We aim to make payment and document handling digital and easy and we give you one place where everything lives so that it’s always easy to find what you need. The one thing we ask homeowners to do is to leave feedback for the Pro at the end of the job. The best outcome would be that you’d want to work with that Pro again and you build a ‘home team’ on Quartermaster of trusted Pros that you know you can call and you’re happy to refer to friends and neighbours.
